The IOTA Artifact Inventory Control System :  How IOTA keeps track of what is found, where it is found, what is happening to it and where it is stored.

Each artifact recovered from the Santa Margarita is entered into a computerized inventory system.  A standard Database Management System was fitted with user interface and report generation for the type of applications IOTA anticipated.  Frequently found, ubiquitous artifacts such as porcelain shards, glass beads, and copper ingot fragments are organized into lots, which contain several of the same type of artifact.

Periodically, a list of the finds is generated from the inventory system, and in keeping with the Agreement between the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), a representative appointed by the Governor and one appointed by IOTA meet to review each artifact and testify to the accuracy of the inventory.

The following two photographs show some of the menus available in the system.  They are presented to provide an overview of the inventory sytem.
